Merkaz Kehillati Dati Achuza (MAKA) – The Ahuza Orthodox Community Center

• Did you know that current-day Iran is the very place the original Purim story
took place? Haifa residents and visitors are invited to a lecture about "The Jewish
community in Iran," including a historical scan of what took place since the story of
Purim, the showing of a movie made recently about the current community in Iran,
and a discussion about current events and its effect on Israel and the Jewish
community in Iran. Lecture will be dlivered by Dr. Soli Shahvar, director of the Ezri
Center for Iran and Persian Gulf Studies, University of Haifa. Lecture will be held
(in Hebrew) on Wednesday, 24 of February, 20:00, at the Ramat Eshkol synagogue,

performers, a "warm up show" with a young musician (Asaf Eshtar), as well as a

first serve" basis) are 120 NIS per person. "Junior price" tickets of 60 NIS can be
purchased for soldiers, students, or anyone under 35. To reserve you seat, please

Lag Baomer event – You're invited to come join
us as we celebrate Lag Baomer with music, song,
good food, and—of course—a bonfire. The “Ohel
Bracha” synagogue, in conjunction with MAKA,
welcomes all Ahuza residents to come participate
in their Lag Baomer program. Saturday night,
May 1, program begins at 21:00. There will be a
“drum circle” with dozens of drums and other
percussion instruments, to be followed by folklore
singing (Shira Betzibur) led by a guitarist and
participants. There will be communal bonfires
nearby. Refreshments will be served. No entry fee.
