A unique opportunity to participate in the dialogue between two important writers, known in their countries and in world
literature. They both talk about their work, the sources of their inspiration and their books. De Luca and Meir Shalev have
similar characteristics - the release of their first book at the age of 40, their deep connection to the Bible, which is reflected in
their work, the landscapes of their childhood engraved in their  writings characterized by a fine irony, and their vision,
combining humor and compassion. De Luca will also speak of his special relationship with Israeli readers and with Hebrew.
Erri de Luca was born in Naples, has worked as a laborer and has suffered, he was active in leftist organizations, is
self-taught in the Bible, Judaism, Hebrew and Yiddish. Although he was far from from Naples, this city appears as a thread in
the memories of his childhood and his books.
Meir Shalev was born in Nahalal and raised in Jerusalem. His novels deal with the Israeli experience, they feed on sources
connected to the landscape, the nature and the history of the country. The biography details about his family and
the landscapes of his childhood are reflected in several of his books.

The emergence of Nazism on the stage of history is an important step in the history of  humanity. During the 12 years of
existence of the national – socialist government, the world has resulted in a campaign in which war crimes  previously
unknown by mankind have been committed. Until the Nazis came to power, Germany symbolized an enlightened rich and
multifaceted civilization. Hitler did not take power through a bloody revolution. The establishment of a dictatorial regime was
made possible by a political and social situation, the Weimar Republic
The treaty of Versailles, signed at the end of the First World War, celebrating a short-term political vision of the victorious
nations ("allies"), have been the signal for the future. Frustration, disappointment and bitterness of the German nation
traced a new vision, that would  renew  German hegemony in Europe and placed the hatred of Jews in the heart of Nazi
ideology. During the series, the background and reasons of social trends and policies that led to the spread of Nazi ideology,
